The DC Black Theatre & Arts Festival  was birthed from the idea they we could nurture the mind, body and spirit with the Arts. This idea has led to the genesis of a remarkable Arts & Culture community in the heart of the Nation’s Capital - with over 75 artists displaying and selling everything from: Paintings, Photography, Prints, Jewelry, Clothing and Sculpture.

This year the DC Black Theatre & Arts Festival will offer live painting demonstrations from DC’s top mural and street artists as well as a community paint parties for everyone and all ages. Also nestled between performing arts, will be arts openings and lectures by talented individuals both local and international.

The DC Black Theatre & Arts Festival benefits the community in many ways, including giving the public an opportunity to experience some of the most relevant and current art in the district. Attendees will experience some of the newest and most innovative dance and music performances around, as well as participate in the many projects at the festival, voting in the several audience-choice competitions at the festival, taking art workshops, or just enjoying the unique atmosphere that can only be found at the DC Black Theatre & Arts Festival.

The festival draws thousands of people, both from inside and outside the state. The benefits also extend to the artists that sell their unique works at the festival, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the artists.

The DC Black Theatre & Arts Festival is unique to the city as it provides the best opportunity for Urban Artists to be showcased and celebrated for the positive cultural impact they have on the society.
