dance

The DC Black Theatre & Arts Festival brings together an international community of choreographers, performers, educators and students in a cooperative community to study, perform and create new work. The Festival offers a supportive atmosphere aimed at fostering a creative exchange of ideas, encouraging exploration of new ground & providing opportunities to experience a wide spectrum of dance/movement disciplines. Artists, students & audiences share their knowledge and inspiration through workshops, jams, discussions, informal showings & performances.

Established in 2010 to celebrate the art of contemporary dance,  the festival brings a diverse array of contemporary dance artists together from across the United States, inviting the world to experience this art form at its finest.

Participants and audience members are invited to meet and mingle with critics, producers, photographers, and leaders in the national dance community, all while exploring contemporary dance as a site of social change and progress.

We are honored to host some of the most innovative dance companies and choreographers in the world.
